Open roles at Nopona

Help renters pay rent and build credit. We are hiring for payment operations and resident support.

Payment Operations Analyst

Location Washington, DC or Remote, United StatesType Full time

About Nopona

Nopona lets renters pay their landlord by bank transfer and get credit for it. On time rent is reported free to all three credit bureaus, and residents earn rewards they can put toward next month's rent. The landlord gets paid the way they already expect to be paid.

The role

You keep the money moving correctly. Every business day you watch the transfer files, find the payments that did not settle, and work out why. You reconcile what left a resident's account against what reached the landlord, and you build the checks that catch a problem before a resident finds it. This sits under payment operations and works alongside the support and retention side of the company, but the reconciliation and exception work is yours.

What you will do

  • Reconcile daily ACH activity, matching resident debits against landlord disbursements and flagging anything that does not tie out.
  • Investigate returns and failed transfers, identify the cause, and start the right recovery or retry path.
  • Monitor settlement timing so rent lands with landlords by the date promised, and raise it early when it will not.
  • Prepare the monthly reporting file sent to the credit bureaus and check it for missing or malformed records.
  • Document each recurring exception type and the steps to clear it, so the process does not live in one person's head.

What we are looking for

  • Two or more years in payment operations, treasury operations, or accounting at a bank, processor or fintech.
  • Working knowledge of ACH, including return codes, settlement windows and NACHA basics.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills and enough SQL to pull your own transaction data.
  • Precision. You notice when a total is off by a few cents and you find out why.
  • Calm under a deadline, because rent has one every month.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to credit bureau reporting formats such as Metro 2.
  • Experience with a payment processor's dashboard and API, for example Stripe, Dwolla or Modern Treasury.
  • Any background in property management or rent collection.

Resident Support Specialist

Location Washington, DC or Remote, United StatesType Full time

About Nopona

Nopona is how renters pay rent and build credit at the same time. Residents pay their landlord by bank transfer, on time payments are reported free to all three credit bureaus, and rewards earned along the way go toward next month's rent.

The role

You are the person residents talk to. Most days that means helping someone set up their first payment, explaining when a payment will reach their landlord, or answering a question about why a credit report has not updated yet. You handle the queue end to end and pull in payment operations when a transfer genuinely needs investigating. This role is resident facing only. The retention and CRM side of the company handles campaigns and lifecycle messaging, not individual cases.

What you will do

  • Help residents connect a bank account, schedule rent, and understand the timing of a transfer.
  • Answer questions about credit reporting, including what gets reported, when, and what does not.
  • Explain how rewards accrue and how they are applied against the following month's rent.
  • Work failed and late payment cases with residents, coordinating with payment operations on anything that needs a trace.
  • Log every recurring question so the help center and the in app copy can be improved.

What we are looking for

  • One to three years in customer support, resident services, property management or a call center.
  • Plain, patient communication in writing and on the phone.
  • Willingness to learn how ACH timing and credit reporting actually work, so you never guess at an answer.
  • Good judgment about when to solve something yourself and when to escalate.
  • Steadiness during the first week of the month, when volume is highest.

Nice to have

  • Spanish fluency.
  • Experience with a leasing or property management system such as Yardi, AppFolio or Entrata.
  • Familiarity with a support platform like Zendesk or Intercom.
